I just find the statement. My understanding is that RDi is going to replace the WDSC.

Statement of direction
WebSphere Development Studio Client for System i, as well as the non-ILE System i compilers
and Application Development ToolSet components in WebSphere Development Studio for
System i are stabilized. That means IBM will no longer add any new enhancements to these
components. Our future investment will focus on our strategic ILE compilers and IBM Rational
application development tools. IBM recommends that customers use the ILE set of compilers.
For workstation tools, IBM recommends that customers use the IBM Rational Developer for
System i product.

RDI.... it is new to me.... Sorry, I have to ask a stupid question. Is the RDi a replacement of WSDC? I just "convinced" my boss let me try the WSDS. I am learning it. Now.... a new kid - RDI. I just searched Internet to compare the 2 products.

It just mentions that RDI have some functions in WDSC .
• Specific functions that were previously contained in WebSphere Development Studio Client Advanced Edition for System i V7.0
– i5/OS program call J2C connector
– Single sign-on using Enterprise Identity Mapping (EIM) for Web applications
– Application diagram RPG support
– Screen designer technology preview phase 1
– ClearCase® and IBM Rational Developer for System i integration to System

I still don't understand whether RDi and WSDC are for different directions.....

Thanks

Kevin

I did happen to order 6.1 at the same time but it appears that you can
just get it from Passport Advantage. Call the Passport Advantage people
and check it out. I would not see why you have to have 6.1 because 6.1 is
not required for RDi to function.

I am running RDi and am at V5R4.

Do you have a V6R1 system as well, or were you able to get ahold of RDi
through some other channel? The announcement letter makes it seem that
RDi is only available with an order for V6R1.
