I am reminded that we do not use service programs as they use dynamic calls and that would mean the same as going back to RPGIII.
Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know where your group got the idea that service programs are
dynamic calls. I'd advise a re-read of the ILE Concepts manual. In brief,
Service program procedures are bound by reference.
Module procedures are bound by copy.
RPG III programs are bound at run-time, and use dynamic CALL.
I'd use RPG400-L to discuss specifics of performance in RPG; there is a
larger pool of RPG people there. To discuss service programs in
general, I'd use MIDRANGE-L, for the same reason: you aren't reaching
the audience who can help you the best by posting this question here.
