My current PC is running XP. It is a 2.6ghz Pentium, 2.5GB RAM and a

I always have these applications running: Firefox, WDSc, Outlook,
iSeries Nav & F.R.O.G for IBM i5.
Startup takes 10-15 minutes every morning. I have started with EGL, so
that requires another WDSc instance and RAM used frequently pushes 2GB.
Performance is such that I will frequently go for coffee while waiting
on my PC. And you do not want to ask what happens when I have to start
Visual Studio...
You've got bigger issues. I can make a couple of quick suggestions, although they're probably not that feasible. I would highly recommend looking into Thunderbird as a replacement for Outlook. I'm not sure you can do it, but I love it, and it's really, really light on memory footprint. Second, I'm not sure why you needed a second WDSC; you should be able to run all of your regular projects in the same WDSC workbench that you use for EGL.

I'm not sure how much memory FROG uses, but have you tried the Data perspective in WDSC? It's pretty powerful. You can execute, save and edit SQL scripts. The biggest limitation is no cut, paste or download from the results, so it may not help at all.

But more importantly, it sounds like you've got a bunch of crap in your system. You should really get some diagnosis tools and see what all you're loading. It should not take 10-15 minutes to boot under any circumstances.
