With all due respect, I wouldn't put you on the bleeding edge, Chad
<grin>.

WDSC V7 has been out for nearly a year, and will continue to be
supported (bug fixes only) until, what, 2010? It will have all the
functions and features you need until you install V6R1, and my guess is
you won't be installing V6R1 the day it's announced. And even when it
is, will you be immediately adding the new RPG features to your
programs? Probably not.

So, if you had installed WDSC V7, you'd have a great, feature-rich tool
that still has a couple of years of life in it.

Maybe this is why a known bug in V6 made it into V7 and all I get from
IBM is that it is a known problem and will be fixed in a future release.
This was the same store I got before V7 came out. It is the problem of
converting any nested statement with an EXEC SQL in it. Funny though
that if I revert to green screen and convert to FREE, the RPGTOOLBOX
from Linoma does it just fine. The outline in WDSc will show unused
fields if they only exist in an SQL Statement yet RPGTOOLBOX got that
fixed within a few days of my reporting it. So if I am reading all this
right this new RDI is slated to replace WDSc or am I missing something?
We were looking forward to V6R1M0 but will probably wait about 6 months
or so before we take the plunge. I am old enough to remember when IBM
upgraded its software that it was no big deal. Just install and go
about your regular business and play with the new toys at leisure. Not
anymore. Progress or the sake of progress has never really worked well.
