I believe that Kurt is correct. If this is a sample, I think it's a sample of a service program intended to be called by another VARPG program. Which sample is it? I don't recognize it. Whatever it is, it doesn't look like a good 'starter' app.

You would probably do better to play with the sample applications mentioned in the Help. Start with the Video Store Catalog, and when you're comfortable move on to the Video Store Cashier. Those applications should work 'out of the box', although you do have to put the save file up on your /400 and restore it.

Or you could start with something really simple like the Welcome application. That should also work, and there isn't a lot to it.
