Yes. I have a machine where this is the situation (deploying to \\as400\somewhere from home over VPN is very slow), and it just works for me.

Looks like at least a couple people have done it, and no one has said serious problems showed up. I'm going to install on a fourth drive that once reported as potentially a problem; I use it for non-critical work. It shouldn't have any connection to the WDSC 7 stuff.
