In case 1, IM would ask for the CDs since it can't talk to IBM.
In case 2, Packaging Utility would ask for the CDs or the
location of
the original 7.0 repository.
This is the part I don't understand. I could see MAYBE
getting some configuration information from the original CD.
But why would it need to in effect re-install 810MB from the
original CD, software that for all intents and purposes is
already installed?
It doesn't make sense to me.
I agree that 810MB from the original 7.0 seems a little excessive.
I wonder if it really needed all that or if the little bit it needed was simply part of a larger
whole. But because it was going back out to the IBM repositories, for whatever reason IM had to
download the whole thing.
When I updated my local repository to 7.0.0.2, I remember it asking to use the 7.0.0.0 repository.
IIRC, it doesn't seem like it took long enough to pull in a full 810MB.
But IBM would be the one with the answers.
