We are working on setting up Single Signon using Enterprise Identity
Management (EIM) and were told by IBM that it is not possible on any PC
that runs WDSc. This is due to the fact that WDSc requires entries in
the HOSTS file that preclude EIM from working. Does anyone have any
more info on this? Are there any plans to eliminate this restriction?

I know nothing of EIM or single signon. I run WDSC 7 on Windows XP pro, SP 2. In \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts I found to my surprise that there are two entries marked 'added by Eclipse' One is the IP address of my iSeries with the system name having the first two characters replaced with R0.

So instead of being IBMISERI, it is R0MISERI.

The second entry has the same IP address but I don't recognise the name at all, it being R0K00001.

How host table entries would prohibit EIM from working is quite beyond me. Why Eclipse felt the need to add these entries is also beyond me though, so apparently I'm not all that smart :-)
