Peter,

This doesn't mean I don't like the extensions ( I love them, and am very
grateful that your company makes them available), but I do find the update

procedure very complicated.

I did not have to manually download it or find it complicated. Within
Manage Configuration I selected Scan For Updates and WDSC located the
update
and installed it.

Nothing else to do but restart WDSC.
