P.S. Somebody reminded me privately that there may also be a per-user cost
associated with WDHT, but I forget how it all works. IBM is definitely
moving towards the per-user pricing, primarily driven by the Rational
group,
and I think they're in charge of WDHT now.
People who had licensed HATS needed to convert to WDHT licenses and people
that have free WebFacing Apps will need to convert to WDHT. There is a per
user license(set number of licenses) or Processor license. There might be
one more choice as well. When you go to enable the license for a HATS
application you need to select the correct radio button. For a WebFacing
application you need the WDHT jar file or you will be limited to the 2
developer licenses. Last year in 2006 to help people convert they offered
the licenses for about 50% to 60% of the normal cost so people could buy in
at very low rates and now only have to pay the yearly maintenance. While I
was working for an IBM business partner at the time we made sure our clients
all knew about this and if they were even thinking about going this route
would at least mention this to them. Unfortunately that ended last Sept
2006.....
Joe....I am sure your product is good. I took a class from you several
Commons ago when I was first learning java and J2EE and liked your approach.
