[Source code with funny square characters on the line don't copyproperly]

Check if your source code displays comments in white and highlighted in
SEUHowever
instead of the dull and dreary green? I found that the squares (in mycase
they were rectangles) were a representation of hex codes that wereembedded
in the source member to make the comments jump out at the coder.
worthnothing was done to make the code any easier to read.
I've noticed these as well - the 'square' character is commonly used in
Windows to represent unprintable characters (there's actually an ASCII
code for making a bell sound on your PC speaker, for example). It's
noting that if you are using iSeries projects, you need to set up the
projects to use the Unicode (UTF-8) character encoding, or else the SEU
hex codes will not round trip properly. For me, they became commas when
EBCDIC -> ASCII was performed on 'Add to iSeries Project', and then when
my changes were pushed back to the i5 the code no longer highlighted in
SEU, it just had a comma as in the comment area for those lines.
I had a discussion quite a while back with one of the WDSC team about how
to set things up so that the default encoding for iSeries projects wasthis
UTF-8. See http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l/200605/msg00255.html for
more info.
Hope this helps,
Adam
