If you haven't got the WAS Express yet, you do need to order 5722-WE2 "
IBM Web Enablement for i5/OS" (5722-WE2).
See this link for details:
http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/websphere/wsappserver/express/indexexp61.html

For WDSC V7, pls check here:

Re: [WDSCI-L] What Products to Order for Websphere

Thanks Chenghui.

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but I'm still not sure I have the
information I need.

I do understand that WDSC comes with its own WAS test environment. I use
that every day in fact for one of my clients.

However, I have a different client who has an iSeries at V5R3 who upgraded
from 5.1 about a year and a half ago. They do not have WAS installed on
their system. They tell me they do not have the CD's with WAS 6.0 on it
(which I'd have thought would have came with V5R3 upgrade package).

They will therefore need to order WAS. I want them to get the latest
version, which I believe is 6.1 and I want them to do a refresh on 5722WDS
to get Version 7 of that.

But I am not sure what to tell them to actually order when they call IBM.

To add to the confusion...they have an on-going deteriorating relationship
with their IBM BP and are no longer on speaking terms with them, but are
also still under maintenance agreement with that BP which makes going to
the
BP for information, impossible.

So... If I wanted to tell them what to tell IBM they want...so that they
end
up with WAS 6.1 (for their iSeries) and WDSC V7...what would I tell them?

Thanks for your patience!

Shannon O'Donnell

Since V5R3, WAS Express ed. is installed along with OS. HTTP server is
also
installed. Pls check your host to see if they are there. As Charles points
out, the different versions of WAS test env are installed automaticly when
you install WDSC v7. So, you can develop your web applications with WDSC
v7, and test them locally within the IDE. Then you can export them and
deploy them to the default WAS Express server on i5.

You don't need 5722WE1 - Web Enablement.

Thanks.

Shannon,

If all you want is a WAS 6.1 server for testing on your local PC, then all

you need is WDSCi.

WDSCi includes a WAS 6.1, 6.0, 5.1, and 5.1 Express test environments.

Also, the CD pack contains a WAS 6.1 for Windows CD. I don't if that's
licensed for production use or
not.

HTH,
Charles

Subject: [WDSCI-L] What Products to Order for Websphere

I want to end up with Websphere Application Server 6.1 on my
iSeries, along with Websphere Development Studio Client toolset V7.

I cannot figure out what to order though, from reading IBM's
online information.

Here's what I THINK I need to tell IBM I want:

5733W61 - Websphere Application Server 6.1 for i5/0S 5722WDS
- Websphere Development Studio Client

However, reading the website it also looks like I might need to order
5722WE1 - Web Enablement, although I'm not sure why.

Here is the link I was looking at:
http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/websphe
re/wsappserver
/

Can someone pleave give me some informed advice on what
product(s) to order to achieve what I stated in the first
line of this message? Are there other products I need to
order as well to get WAS 6.1 and WDSC 7?

Thanks in advance!
