We're on V5R4 now, but just came off of V5R3 a couple of weeks ago. The QUSRWRK subsystem was always active and never impacted performance. Right now there are several pre-start jobs running in it, plus 70+ SRVMONxx batch jobs.

I don't see that starting a subsystem alone would eat up resources causing a performance issue. There must have been something running within the subsystem that caused the problem. For example, the QBATCH subsystem is probably always running on our systems, but, if a runaway job submitted to batch started chewing up cycles, I wouldn't look to the subsystem per se as the culprit, but to the job running within the subsystem.

Hi,

Yes, that solution does work, but our systems manager recalls a
performance issue with using QUSRWRK from V5R1. Of course, we are no
longer on V5R1, we are on V5R3.
I suppose the real question would be is anyone having an issue with
QUSRWRK and V5R3?

Thanks!!

Could you please try to hook up your QUSRNOMAX to QSYSWRK? Then the
debug router and the debug server job (each debug session has a corresponding debug server job) will be run in QSYSWRK subsystem.

I have to start it with ALLOBJAUT, otherwise it won't work for me.

Hi,

I cannot get the STRDBGSVR command to complete normally. It puts a job
in QUSRNOMAX, but it goes nowhere. I did some research and saw a lot of
people saying that QUSRWRK had to be running. So on our test box, I
started that subsystem and tried it again. It worked!! However the
systems manager has some concerns about starting QURSWRK on the
production box as he had some issue with it taking too much resources on
V5R1.

We are now on V5R3, but I don't know if there would be an issue with
this or not.

Anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks in advance!
