I have been using the Web Perspective in WDSC since Version 5 and before
WDSC - WebSphere Studio was specifically used for html and jsp. I found
that it was very capable and there was no need for Front Page or
Dreamweaver. Page Designer is the editor for html and jsp. You also have a
stylesheet editor for you css files.
You have code assist (ctrl - spacebar) just like you do in your other
editors but specific to html. So if you are not familiar with all of the
attributes of an html tag you can view them. You can use the outline view
to help navigate to different places in your html.
Since you are using it in WDSC you can then setup a repository such as CVS
to version and share code plus since it is in WDSc you can compare with
local history etc in case you saved some thing you didn't mean to save.
If you are using WDSc version 6.x or before you have Webart and an animated
gif designer available for some graphics work. According to some of the
posts here Webart is no longer part of WDSc 7 but you can save the
executable programs before you uninstall WDSc 6.
If you wanted to create some very fancy websites with lots of flash and
sizzle you may need another product but
it is worth a try to use WDSc before spending money licensing another tool
when you already have one.
I worked with a client once and they told me they were evaluating Java and
Web Development tools to purchase. I asked them if they could compile an
RPG program. They looked at me a little strange. I told them if they could
compile an RPG program then they had licensed WebSphere Studio and all of
the compilers and this wonderful development WDSC that could do what they
wanted. I helped them dust off the CD's laying in the corner.
Good Luck

I've so far developed 3 (static) websites using the Web perspective in
WDSCi (first V6 and since last week V7).
It creates clean HTML, has familiar buttons & tools, so the choice was a
no-brainer.
I agree with Peter. My website (www.plutabrothers.com) was created
entirely
with WDSC (version 5!) and the HTML is quite clean. I've used Front Page
and DreamWeaver and both put way too much junk into the pages for me.
