When opening source using the Project Perspective the Compile menu option
is
not available as is available if opened in RSE. Is this a configuration
issue that must be set up?
I too like the projects but it appears to me that if I make changes to one
member I must rebuild the entire project.

You can right click on an individual member, select Remote Options and then
Compile. This will push the member to the host, then compile it.
