Hi Jerry,

Syntax checking in the iSeries parsers is triggered by a line being parsed
(or tokenized) in Remote Systems LPEX.
As you observe, this occurs when you press Enter, but there are other
events that trigger parsing and syntax checking. For example: copy/paste
or modify a line and move with cursor key up or down.
In your case, when Remote Systems LPEX Editor loses focus, the line you
were typing is parsed (and thus tokenized and syntax checked).

Hope that helps.

Oftentimes I'll get halfway through typing a line into the editor, such
as CHAIN and then, for various reasons, will have to flip to another PC
session (say to type an email). When I come back to the editor, it
invariably displays "RNF5377E The end of the expression is expected.".

Naturally finishing the line removes the error (usually). Like I said,
just a nuisance and, also, curiosity: Why would the editor think that I
had pressed the Enter key?
