I don't think anything is happening to RPG. At least, not anything bad.

PHP and EGL (among other things) on the i5 are like four-wheel drive on my pickup. Personally, I don't need or use it too often, but there are other folks who may drive the same kind of truck and use it extensively. Probably helps sell a few more trucks. Air conditioning's the same.


Now, when one starts talking about tires, well, that's a whole 'nother thing. Necessaries, but even they come in different configurations and costs. Just because a tail fin is added to the truck's package doesn't mean going to take away the radio.


Personally I think the more things that are added to the i5 the more marketable it becomes. The ability to run a Linux partition or a Windows server didn't adversely impact it so why should PHP, EGL, MySQL, etc.?
