I'd say this is the list since it comes packaged with WDSC. ;)

It wasn't discontinued. They have still been updating it, but as
mentioned, it's behind the current release of native RPG. We created a
system with VARPG for a new in-house department and when other people
see it they're jealous of it (though that's to the credit to the
designers/developers as well as to the look and feel of the end result).

Now we're tackling reworking another large system to be deployed via
VARPG and again and again we find so many benefits to using it (the
biggest one being screen real-estate). Now, I guess that'd be the same
if we went C++ or Java, but the difference is that we already know RPG.
Learning the nuances of VARPG for a RPG developer is no where near the
road of learning a new language.

I realise this isn't the right list but there doesn't seem to be one for
VARPG.

My boss asked me to look at VARPG a while ago as we wondered what it
was. I said it was like VB for us RPG programmers, but IBM has
discontinued it. So we dropped the idea.

Does anyone use it? Is it worth starting to look into?

LOL, considering Charles' statement about a "new" RPG replacement
compiler, I wonder if VARPG might not be becoming native on System
i.....

Just a thought...

This page talks about 'what's new' for 7.0:

On the right are links to the announcement letter as well as some
Statements of Direction.

These are going away after 7.0:

CoOperative Development Environment (CODE) The CoOperative Development

Environment (CODE) tools (CODE Editor, CODE Designer, CODE Project
Organizer, CODE Program Generator and the IBM Distributed Debugger)
are deprecated in WDSC V7.0 and WDSC AE V7.0.

This is the statement about VARPG:

Currently you can leverage your existing RPG IV skills to create rich
client applications by using VisualAge RPG 6.0, which is included in
WDSC 7.0 and WDSC AE 7.0.

IBM is exploring enhanced functions to enable you to use your RPG
skills in the creation of rich user interfaces more effectively,
targeting a wide variety of devices. IBM plans to define a path that
allows VisualAge RPG users to take full advantage of these exciting
new capabilities with minimal effort.
