Thanks Violaine, Just to clarify. I'm perfectly happy hitting refresh to get DDS changes or changes from another source member into my outline view. But when working in a given RPGLE source member, I'd like to see the outline view for that member get updated without a "full verify". After all, the syntax editor (usually)* knows when the D-spec is completed correctly, couldn't the outline view be updated at that point without hitting the i5? Thanks again, Charles Wilt *I say usually because I have seen cases where it thinks there are still problems, mostly when I'm using long names with the ellipses (...)

Hey Charles, Peter, Firstly, this request (parameter names in outline view) is already on our list, I have added your feedback to help increase the priority of the item Secondly, the RPG outline view is very different than that for DDS. The DDS outline view does not require any communications with the iSeries (RPG outline view does a full verify function in order to populate itself). Having said that, we also have a requirement to enable RPG outline view to work asynchronously, which would then allow the dynamic update you are requesting. thanks, Violaine Batthish WebSphere Development Studio Client, IBM Toronto Lab wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote on 03/20/2007 08:01:53 AM:Even more so, this also happens in the DDS editor. I don't mean automatically doing a"refresh". I meanwhen I add a line to a source member D myvar s 10a Then myvar would show in the outline view without hitting refresh. More importantly, "myvar" would be available via CodeAssist at thattime to. Since the syntax checker usually knows when thedefinitionis complete it would seem that it should be possible to update theoutlineview. In addition, the Java editor works this way. There's no "refresh" needed to make variables/procedures available to Code Assist in Java. It's just a little frustrating to code a procedure interface and a bunch of local variables then have to refresh the outlineview beforeI can use any of them in Code Assist.
