Would we need to set up the override command and run it first, then do

the compile?

You can set up your own compile command which does the OVR before compiling.
Most of the time I find that I can achieve what I want by simply setting the
appropriate library list - which is why I tend to use multiple connections
with different library list setups to the same system.
