Aaron - I'm seeing this behaviour as well, and thought I would expect it 
to work the same way you do (replace the selection with the contents of 
the paste buffer), I'm not sure this is a bug per se.  It seems to me that 
this is likely a function of the type of selection (stream, character, 
element or rectangle).  You've probably noticed similar behaviour if you 
compile some RPG source, with a syntax error, then double-click the error 
in the iSeries Error View to hightlight the error.  This hightlighted 
section is not replaced if you now start typing.

A workaround for your situation would be to do Ctrl+Home, Shift+Ctrl+End, 
then Ctrl+V.  The Ctrl+Shift+End method of marking a large portion of text 
uses the stream selection, where the selected area is replaced by the 
paste buffer.  See the topic 'Changing the default marking mode' in the 
LPEX help for more details.  If you do ?selection in the LPEX command 
line, you can get to this topic from the 'See also' section at the bottom.
