Well, I always install from DVD, and rarely have too much trouble. I'd suggest buying a USB DVD drive that you can move from PC to PC. My only issue with this is that there are CDs that must be loaded after the DVD is installed, such as CODE, HATS, and so forth. It would be nice to have all components available on the DVD, but.... Make sure the user that installs is really an admin... Also, if you plan to use CODE and/or Designer, your users need to have "PowerUser" authority or better. Clauss posted about a WDSCi refresh DVD that was available which contained many of the fixes that you normally need to apply after the initial install. This would significantly reduce the time needed for a full install. Can you describe what problems you had specifically? The install was a nightmare. It was impossible to install from the cds, even in safe mode. It was impossible to install from disc images in the IFS. It was impossible to install from disc images on the local hard drive. The only thing that worked was disc images on a portable USB hard drive. Needless to say it didn't make a very good impression on anyone. It was about 3 months ago and I can't remember the specific error--just like an end user <g>--but it failed with the same one for everybody in each of the modes that didn't work. Any suggestions on avoiding this? I know it may not be enough information to solve the problem. ***************************** NOTICE: All e-mail sent to or from this e-mail address will be received or otherwise recorded by The Sharper Image corporate e-mail system and is subject to archival, monitoring, and review by and/or disclosure to Sharper Image security and other management.
