WAG here but, IBM says not to start any variable names with SQL.
Perhaps the verifier is being a little stricter than necessary.

Just to be safe, I don't start any user defined stuff out with SQL.

Again, maybe I'm missing another H-spec or something, but I'm 
consistently getting another error when verifying some SQL RPGLE 
source.
 
RNF7260: The Factor 2 operand SQLOPEN is not valid for the specified 
operation.
C  ExSr   SQLOpen
RNF5318: Factor 1 entry has a data type that is not allowed for this 
operation; specification is ignored.

C  SQLOpen   BegSr
 
This compiles fine in PDM.
