I have noticed a couple of gotchas when converting. If there are any
characters in CC1-5 the conversion leaves them there and then the
compile complains and you have to go and manually remove the
characters in CC1-5.

Forgive me if I have missed something ...

The following code works just fine for me, (with characters in cols 1-5):

     D Message         S             20A
BP001C                   Eval      Message = 'Semi-free format'
BP002C     Message       Dsply     '*REQUESTER'
      /Free
BP003    Message = 'Free format';
BP004    Dsply Message '*REQUESTER';
BP005    *InLR = *On;
BP006    Return;
      /End-Free

Converts, compiles and runs OK under V5R3 and V5R4 - no problem. Columns
1 to 5 can continue to be used under free-format - no need to remove.
