iSeries Projects, unfortunately, does not yet deal with source in IFS. Its on the list of enhancements. At one point we were considering making "IFS projects" separate from "Library based projects" but it sounds like you really want a merged project. Or would two, somehow related, projects be worthwhile? I ask because in building WDSC we typically have several interdependent projects in our workspaces. Some of these are different project types. Having things separate like this is an advantage when building from components. The underlying workspace has a concept of "working sets" which are groups of related projects. Perhaps if we exploited that in iSeries Projects it would help? _______________________ David Dykstal david_dykstal@xxxxxxxxxx AGlauser@erbgroup .com Sent by: To wdsci-l-bounces@m Websphere Development Studio Client idrange.com for iSeries <wdsci-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc 11/16/2006 08:50 Subject AM Re: [WDSCI-L] Connection as 'project' Please respond to Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries <wdsci-l@midrange .com> Buck wrote on 16/11/2006 09:34:08 AM:
There is no way to have filter from different> subsystems grouped together in RSE. Well at least now I know what words to use :-)I have added your request to the list of requirements.Sorry to add to your workload. :-( The basic idea is that a single project can cross over different subsystems, physical connexions and platforms, and that I'd rather like to see all the related 'objects' listed fairly close to each other. In this case, I have some PASE scripts, some PASE C files, some RPG, CL and DDS source members, but I can easily envision adding Windows Java, .jsp files and Apache .conf files to the mix.
Hi Buck, I don't know if it fits your requirements exactly but you might try out the 'iSeries Projects perspective'. It requires some discipline, because you work with your source offline, so I found that mixing RSE development with Projects development caused me some trouble. However, it is a good facility for grouping lots of source into one project. I'm not totally sure how well it deals with IFS objects, but it might be worth a try.
