In our shop, we had an administrator sign on, make the hosts file
changeable, open WDSC, right-click to open CODE, close CODE, close WDSC,
make hosts read-only again, then log off. Power users can now use the
right-click method to get into CODE.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Fastpathing from WDSCi to Code Tools

Hey all,

I'm having this issue and dont have any ideas on how to get around it.
Anytime I right click on a source member and try to open it in CODE I
get the following error:

To launch the CODE tools from the Workbench RSE connections must be
registered with CODE communications. Possible cause:

1. The limit of 20 servers in CODE communications has been reached.
Delete some of the servers from the CODE communications console or stop
and restart the CODE communication daemon.

2. The local Windows TCP/IP hosts file is read-only. Find the hosts file
(typically %windows_install_dir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) and make
sure it is not read-only.

3. The RSE connection name contains DBCS characters. Rename the RSE
connection, removing any DBCS characters.

The reason I get this error is #2. Because we have a spy where product
my lmhosts file is read-only on purpose. My question is this, what can
be done to get around this. I'm sure we arent the only ones with
read-only lmhosts.

Thanks
Don Nitke
