Mark is correct. There is a reason it looks and sounds so much like the original. This is the same core RSE component that is used as the basis for WDSC (and several other IBM products). The iSeries support is not in this, but all the Linux, Unix, and Windows support is. _______________________ David Dykstal david_dykstal@xxxxxxxxxx Mark Phippard <markp@softlandin g.com> To Sent by: Websphere Development Studio Client wdsci-l-bounces@m for iSeries <wdsci-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> idrange.com cc Subject 10/25/2006 01:17 Re: [WDSCI-L] (no subject) PM Please respond to Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries <wdsci-l@midrange .com> wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote on 10/25/2006 02:04:12 PM:
As if the renaming of the WDSC tools under the rational banner wasn't confusing enough it looks like we are now going to be faced with _two_ RSEs!! This from today's Eclipse News "Developers looking for Remote Systems Explorer 1.0, the component that allows Eclipse users to explore file systems on remote Linux ..." Sounds an awful lot like our RSE - any chance that the two will be
combined
(nah!) or are we just going to be more confused?
It is our RSE ... sort of. The foundation of RSE that is common to all platforms was made open source by IBM a year or so ago. This is the official 1.0. I'd assume that the WDSC iSeries additions will eventually be built on top of this code base. Doesn't mean the iSeries part will be open source.
