Thanks a lot Debra,
Good to know that I am not the only one struggling with the xml extender. I find very it very frustrating as we can read everywhere that IBM is pushing XML with Db2 and they do not provide a simple easy understanding documentation. All the documentation is all to do with DAD and complex scenario, but I thought using the wdsc wizards xml tools would simplify the process. I found the administration wizard to install on the pc. But I think to make it work the java toolbox needs to be installed on the pc (Jdbc driver) first. I had a look on the version 8.2 of the db2 xml extenders administration guide from the ibm site. The doc DB2 XML Extender Hints and tips seems quite good.
I am missing the C compiler on my iseries, thank a lot for the info.
Have you tried to use the rdb to xml wizards which generates dad automatically it looks quite good if it works, I have not tried it yet. When I generate an xsd from my xml and the sql from the xsd the deploy the sql. I get the sql error msg SQL0204 Myusername not found in QSYS. I do not understand why it takes my iseries server user id instead of the default schema I entered when I created my connection. Have you tried that ? I can use sql in the data perspective without any problems.

Regards
Manuel
