confused with Eclipe vs Rational Web Developer

I am attempting to load HATS update. 6.0.5, after loading HATS 6.0
Instructions have special steps to avoid a halt if "HATS was loaded on Rational 
Web Developer".
All I know is:
a. loaded WDSC 6.0 from dvd and then used Rational Updates to load fixes
b. loaded HATS 6.0 from cd - i don't remember any question about Eclipse vs 
Rational.
c. now trying to load HATS update....

I see the words Eclipe and Rational on all the screens, so how do I determine 
if to do these steps (edit a xml file and remove a reference to a plugin).
