Thanks, Claus

I appreciate the resource issue. And display is what I mostly use these days.
The priority you gave is completely understandable.

I did always wonder why logical files never made it into Code Designer - I
figured their complexity had something to do with it. I am not one that insists
that I'll "never use SEU again"!! So this is mostly curiosity - in some
respects, it surprised me that PFs made it into Designer - nothing
intrinsically graphical about PFs.

So I'm happy to see that DSPF and PRTF are intended to show up in RSE.
Meanwhile, Designer is often very useful.

Vern

Hi Vern, the priority for the equivalent CODE designer functionality in
RSE is:

Display
Print

Physical
Logical

I personally have not seen a big push from users to get LOGICAL file
support into the tool. Since logical is a lot more complicated than
physical, it always came below our resource threshold.
At the moment both physical and logical file support is not considered high
priority for any implementation in RSE, on the other hand we are listening
and you can send feedback on these priorities directly to me at

Violaine - is there a chance that Code Designer or its RSE equivalent will
handle logical files, too? I have never understood why Code Designer only
works with display, print, and physical files - not logical.

Thanks

Thanks Violaine,

Any indication as to when a graphical replacement for display & print
files will be available in WDSC without using CODE???

"Enquiring minds wanna know" LOL

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

Nope we're not listening :-)

Replacement of CODE Navigatory function in WDSC is high on our list of
requirements (along with any other CODE functions that are missing -
like
CODE Designer).

It seems that the CODE Navigator shows what subroutine is called from
another subroutine, etc in their outline view. Is there a way to have
this functionality added to the lpex editor's outline view???

Credit for this suggestion goes to DougCMH on the iseriesnetwork
forums...(or is it systeminetwork forums??), however it sounds like a
very useful functionality hence my request!!!

Thanks,
Tommy Holden
