1. Are you connected to the internet when you run Check PTFs?

Yes

You may want to double check PTF SI14942 as it heavily affects CODE &
WDSC.

SI14942 was applied but has been superseded by SI15262

That error indicates that CODE was not able to send its request to the
server.  That particular error code means: Connection reset by peer

I'm not sure because I have absolutely no idea where to look next.  I
stopped the servers, stopped the daemon, stopped CODE, killed all tasks and
released all locks of the iSeries.  The insane thing is that I can retrieve
library lists, retrieve and save sources, but I just can't verify!

I'm only using CODE because WDSC is even more screwed up and won't do
anything but retrieve lists of objects.  Any attempt to download source etc.
just fails (eventually) with a blank error message.
