Optional Feature discovery errors

I am attempting to install Lite on the second to last programmer here
and I've gotten to the part where I am going to load the Lite product.
However, it seems as though the updater is looking for the optional Lite
product from the web instead of the local mirror site we have.  I get
errors about connecting to the discovery sites.   I have my preferences
set to the local mirror site.  I copied Markl Phipphard's post for
managing a local mirror,

it to pull the discovery information down.   

 

Was this a waste of time?  Why can't the Updater look for the optional
features on a local mirror? 

 

By the way the update site for the optional features was down or really
busy for a few moments but is now allowing connections.
