You used to be able to do this in QuantumDB, at least I got that information 
prior to V5R3 and once I get a couple of days free I'm going to get up to speed 
on the java class and try and debug it.

Actually yes, you can see what fields are in the table, their format, some of 
the data that is in the table. I will stick to QuantumDB for querying, but for 
looking up information in tables, I think I might try this for a while.

I just found this neat Eclipse plugin called SQLExplorer ( 
http://sourceforge.net/projects/eclipsesql). While I just installed 
it, it does allow me to show the DB layout for tables. It looks like 
it would be useful for those that avoid using the green-screen like I 
am starting to attempt (just to see if I can do it).
