As for how the disks may be identified...I have the set for version 6.0
in front of me. The pkg is labeled WebSphere Development Studio Client
for iSeries, Version 6.0 for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

FYI - a follow up note to an earlier posting I made....I never got it to
install via CDs, but was able to do so successfully via DVD. I had no
DVD drive on my PC, but was able to access another machine on the
network that had one.

Good luck on finding your disks!

Whoever manages the system side of your shop would have gotten them. It
ship automagiclly if you have purchased Websphere Development Studio for
iSeries.

It is a thick collection of CD's and 1 DvD in a pack that has a cover
with a background of White and a purplish montage of graphics.

Talk to your systems guy.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Identifying and finding our WDSCi install DVDs/CDs

Last night I attended our user group meeting in which Claus Weiss
presented his excellent Websphere spiel.

Now my boss has tasked me with finding the WDSCi install DVDs/CDs so
that
we
can play with the editor and debugger. Note that I am on the
development
side, so I have no access to the box(es) that have all of the OS/400
install goodies in them, including, I presume, the WDSCi disks. So,
Monday morning I will start making phone calls trying to locate them.

It would be
nice
to
know what I am asking others to look for.

BTW, we are at OS/400 v5r3. Since we have the compilers and SEU, SDA,

etc., should we have automatically received the WDSCi install disks?
Or
would
we
have needed to order it separately? Claus explained that the latest
version has a bright red sticker on the package holding the WDSCi
install
disks
that
implored the person reading it to forward the package to the
development
team. Would that necessarily been the case (the red sticker) for the
v5r3
shipment?

(Suggestion to IBM: Perhaps the WDSCi install disks should *not*
necessarily ship to the location where the rest of the OS/400 install
package
goes.
Instead, allow customers to specify a second address for the WDSCi
install
disks to be sent.)

TIA,
Dan
