Joe,
You are right.
You need to check the "Update production files" checkbox if you want the
debug session invoked by service entry point to do read/write operations on
the file in your production library.

Kyle, I think it's in the preferences. Under Windows/Preferences, expand
Run/Debug and click on iSeries Debug, and on that page are several debug
settings. I'm pretty sure the "Update production files" setting at the top
of the page pertains to SEPs.
