This may have been a different issue. It seems that another file spec had a problem (the file wasn't found), and until I fixed that problem WDSC refused to update any file definitions at all. This may be related to the fact that it does a Verify under the covers; maybe this very high level error of file not found caused the Verify to quit. In any event, I fixed the second file and magically both files are working now.
