The JRE is quite allright I think, considering that I can do my banking 
online (which is java).

I tried again while the NoScript extension was turned off, and the 
download worked just fine.

Thanks for the hint anyway.

Note that Firefox only works with certain JRE's (i.e. JRE 1.4.2).  I have
1.5 loaded on my machine and it always pukes when I go to IBM's 
Infocenter.
