The main issue is statement line resolution. Any SQL* member type
compile runs a precompiler which in a nutshell converts your SQL
statements into normal RPG syntax then compiles the resultant code. So
can it be done yes...but I'd prefer to deal with the slight oddities &
let them work on updating the precompiler, adding new functionality,
etc...

Thanks,

Also, the source file that goes to the new persisting file turns up as
type RPGLE instead of SQLRPGLE.

And there is still the general downside that it takes me to the right
place in the code, but it's the "temporary" copy of the code that I get
pointed to, and not the actual member I'm editing. So I can find out
where the error is, but I have to switch back to the original member and
go find that same location before I can edit it.

I think this is a deep design problem, as the comments on the CODE400-L
list seem to suggest.

The question is, does IBM plan to change it any time soon, or is it so
deep that it can't really be changed ?

Greg

|Thanks Tommy.
|
|I'm shiny now, but not quite golden.
|
|It works, but now I get an extra copy of my source out there.
|
|(We like to keep things tidy here...only one copy of any version of a
|source member should exist)
|
|I suppose I could get creative and make some kind of program run
|whenever I start an interactive session which would copy a source file
|to QTEMP and then point the TOSRCFILE parameter to it. That way all
the
|extra source would go away whenever I log off.

||
||On your compile for SQLRPGLE's try changing the TOSRCFILE keyword to a
||persisting source file...then you should be golden...
