Hi Peter, I don't think it should matter that you sometimes you used the iSeries Debug Manager to debug your RPG program. STRDBGSVR is used to start the debug server for integrated debugger shipped inside WDSC. It is also used to start the old Distributed Debugger shipped with CODE. STRTCPSVR *DBG is used to start the debug server for the Graphic debugger shipped with Java toolbox, and I think it is the iSeries Debug Manager you mentioned in your previous note. We did got complain from customer for the communication problem you mentioned before, but never could re-produce it. It is a tough problem, and we will want to re-produce it. If you encounter it again, could you please let me know? Thanks. If it fails again, I will send you the joblog or spool file. Could it have something to do with the fact that I sometimes use the iSeries Debug Manager (the java GUI thing) to debug my RPG programs? Also, can anybody explain the difference between STRDBGSVR and STRTCPSVR *DBG, if there is any? Thanks, Peter Colpaert Application Developer PLI - IT - Kontich, Belgium ----- Yoda of Borg are we. The updater doesn't show any available updates, so I guess I'm OK at the client side. The iSeries is at V5R3. When in the debug perspective, I get a communications error (316) and cannot continue. I saw in the archives that this error should have been solved by PTF SI18282, but we have this permanently installed and still I get the error. Verify connection shows that option 60 for 5722WDS is not installed, and some PTF's under that. Do I need this in order to debug? Additionally, it says "Host PTF missing. The requested function is not available." under both "Checking callback to debug daemon" and "Checking callback to RSE daemon". But it doesn't say which function needs to be installed. Any help would be highly appreciated (I hate having to go back to 5250 to debug, especially since our GUI programs run in batch).
