How much development compared to other stuff? If you go with a full blown P4 laptop, you will have little battery life. If you go with a PM 1.7 you will have a slower machine but you can still get the 2 GB of ram. Look for a 60 to 80 GB drive that is 7200 RPM. Standard is 4200, fast is 5400, but 7200 will really make a difference though hard to find. You really need to look at your overall usage and guestimate how much you will run on batteries. Generally removing what you don't need such as the media bay and turning off the wireless when not needed, you can significantly increase your battery life. 2 GB of RAM will shorten you battery life so start looking at your memory usage on your current machine. Do you really need 2 GB?
