She might have closed the view.  Try doing Window -> Reset Perspective

It is also possible to "descend" into a subset of the RSE view by taking 
the "Go into" option.  This "focuses" the view on a subset of the info. If 
that is what she has done, there is a toolbar button as well as a 
right-click option to Go To -> Up One Level or Back.
