Version: 6.0.0.1 Build id: 20050214_1800 V5R3I took the wrong actions and lost all my work on the member I was working on (about 2-3 hours worth). Sequence of events:
I was making changes to an ILERPG member when I noticed a problem with the Show Indention. I was getting ready to report the problem and was checking the version in the Help: About IBM Rational Development Platform. I clicked on the Configuration Details button and from the sound of my disk drive going into high speed, I figured this was a long running event, so I tried to cancel it (my 1st mistake). I clicked the X in the About IBM Rational Software Development Platform to close the window. Got a message that program was not responding, so I took the option to end the program. This was my second mistake. I thought I was ending the program that ran the "About" window, but it ended the whole WDSC application! I guess I didn't pay enough attention to what I was actually ending.
So, now I have lost all my changes to the member I was working on. I remember people mentioning on this list that you have to MANUALLY save your source changes to be safe, but I forgot. This provides an incentive to remember in the future!
My question is that since I am working off line in a workspace, why can't WDSC figure this out and recover the changes from the workspace? Is there some setting I have overlooked?
Another question is why did the entire WDSC end when I tried to interrupt the long running job by closing the window for the About Screen? Seems kind of harsh to me.
Thanks. Just kind of venting here. Dave Murvin DRM Enterprises, Inc.
