Okay, I wanted to once again attempt the WebSphere Portal route, but in
order to do that, I wanted to get my test environment set up. Things
seemed relatively cool, right up until I read the documentation, at
which point my head exploded.

It LOOKS like the latest version of Portal Toolkit is 5.0.2.3. And I
can install that onto WDSC 5.1.2.4 no problem. However, I get the
feeling that I will not be able to use the toolkit with the built-in
WTE. Why do I get that feeling? Because there are three options on the
portlet toolkit install: install the toolkit, install the V5.0 test
environment and install the V4 test environment. I am only able to do
the first one, because the others need various software prerequisites
(like WAS). My guess (and this is just a guess!) that installing the
toolkit allows me to CREATE portlets in WDSC, but not test them. To
test them, I need to install one of the portlet test environments (or am
I wrong here?).

If I do need to install a portlet environment, then I need a boatload of
goodies, including WAS 5.0.2 and all of its fixes, patches and whatnot,
as well as Portal itself. Has anybody gotten this all up and running?
How about with Portal Express?

Joe
