There's no Subversion client for the iSeries specifically, but there are Ant tasks. It would then become a matter of writing an Ant script that will check out the code to the IFS, and then run the RPG build (this task would have to be built). -----Original Message----- From: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Aaron Bartell Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2005 4:55 PM To: 'Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries' Subject: RE: [WDSCI-L] Subversion and WDSC I think we must be on different pages because I still think this allows me to do change control with my RPG code (maybe the details you know about Subversion is what I am missing). I plan on using WDSc to edit my source and therefore I have a client for CVS (which is acceptable for me because I don't use SEU anymore). And if Subversion can run the CVS service on the iSeries and store the code in the IFS then I am golden, right? All I need to do is Update and Commit to retrieve and post source. Right now I do not have a CVS service (or server, whatever you want to call it) running on my iSeries because I didn't find one that supported OS/400. Maybe the question I need to ask is this: Where does Subversion store the code on the iSeries? If it is in the IFS then I can just point my RPG compile commands from WDSc to point at that location. <Mark> Personally, I do not see how Subversion running on OS/400 changes anything. You always have had the option of using the IFS as a network share and using the CVS client from Windows. Since, I doubt you are using EDTF to edit the source, that would seem to make the most sense anyway. In the short term, Subversion does not change this equation as currently only the server portion of Subversion is ported to OS/400. You still have to use a client from another OS. We will eventually port the client, there are just other items ahead of that on our agenda. We only really care about the server. </Mark> ________________________________________________________________________ ____ _ Scanned for SoftLanding Systems, Inc. by IBM Email Security Management Services powered by MessageLabs. ________________________________________________________________________ ____ _ -- This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing list To post a message email: WDSCI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l. -- This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing list To post a message email: WDSCI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l.
