Interesting, and I'll probably end up using this, but is there a way to
keep looking for the next line w/o having to press Escape, the up arrow,
and enter again... And as I say that I realize I'm lazy in wanting
ctrl-something... But it's all about keeping the speed.  :)

You mean search for the next line in the document that has a certain
date stamp / or is withing a certain range of dates?

There is the editor "locate" command.  Enter

   ?locate

on an LPEX command line for more information.  Usage examples:

   locate sequenceText 981201 to 981231
   locate sequenceText 991231
