wdsci memory usage

I've noticed that memory useage seems to climb as the day goes on.
Javaw.exe starts at a little less than 70,000 K and by mid afternoon
gets to 300,000 K or so.  At that level the whole machine is in slow
motion.  If I don't watch it the pc will lock up. I've never seen the
memory use go down. Is this expected behavior?  v5.1.0.3
