It's interesting that going through a filter it seems to go member by member - was it a member filter? Maybe an object filter would be different. Create an object filter over only that source file and see what happens.

You had a single source file - this will produce exactly 1 spooled file. This is my poor-man's cross-reference. What I had was a generic specification - library = SRC*, file = Q*, member = *, which resolved to 452 files - we have a lot of products that we control with TurnOver, separate source library for each. The final result showed "337 occurrences in 145 members" and I have 212 spooled files, most of which show nothing - "not found" in the spooled file. There is a separate spooled file for each source file that has any members - this is also how PDM works when you search from WRKOBJPDM instead of WRKMBRPDM.

I just wish WDSC would clean up after itself - we're not supposed to go back to the green screen, right? Heh!

TurnOver's spooled file plugin is a good tool. There's also OpsNav's printer output, but that's slower than TurnOver's for deleting stuff.

     Actually, if I want to document this kind of thing, I suppose the best
     thing is to use option 25 in true PDM. But then you already have all the
     spooled files from the search, so you could take those and print them up
     or get a product like some of ours that can convert and/or download the
     spooled files as you like. I know, it's not the nicely formatted list. I
     wish that support were there, too.

       Duane,

       I'm not familiar with the find string function you are referring to.
       I
       use the search option from the menu and select iSeries.  It prompts
       for a
       string, library, file (can be all by using *), and member (again, can
       be
       all).

       It returns the results in a separate view.  You can print the results
       or
       browse from the results view.
