Did you name our new computer the same name as the original under System? -----Original Message----- From: jag@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jag@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, January 13, 2005 8:24 AM To: Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] Getting a New computer and migrating workspace, filters and conne ctions Rick I went through the same thing a month back. The following are the steps I took. 1. backed up the workspace from the old laptop 2. backed up the WDSC from the old laptop (only for reference) 3. load WDSC using the IBM DVD 4. Bring back the older workspace 5. Install the plugins separately (as per the instructions by the vendor) 6 . Run a install/update through WDSC. I did had some problems, installing the plugins, which I installed separately. I hope this helps and goodluck. Keep posted. The lease on my 3-yr old Thinkpad arrived. So, the Helpdesk group makes me a new machine and it shows up, all ready to roll. Great right? Well, the new laptop has a different computer name and because the old name was through and through the configuration files of WDSc 5.1.2, I now see nothing when I start, even though I've copied the old workspace as workspace2 under wdsc directory. Someone else must have been through this. How would I migrate all this stuff and what tricks do I need to do to preserve my prior environment. FYI, renaming the new computer like the old MAY be possible, but maybe not. If I am stuck with the new name, is it impossible to fix? Thanks.
