Update Manager and Proxy servers

Hi All,

A few people have mentioned problems with getting updates because of proxy 
server issues so I am sending this out to include a bit of information 
that will hopefully help.

The one problem is specifically with the Microsoft Internet Security and 
Acceleration Server (ISA).  This problem is addressed in the following 
Microsoft Knowledge base article:

If you can't connect to the udpate manager site because you are using a 
socks server or your proxy server requires authentication then you could 
try taking a look at the following eclipse bug report (19258).

Sorry, there is not a more "readable" version of this yet, so I'll try to 
summarize.  From this bug report download the "Fixes the proxy login, 
password access problem" attachment.  This is a zip file that you should 
extract into the C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\Application 
Developer\v5.1.2\eclipse\plugins directory.  Now shutdown and restart the 
workbench.  You should now have a preference page called Workbench > Net 
Access.  Here you can specify additional proxy configuration information 
(you should remove all proxy information from the Install / Update 
preference page.  Note:  This is FYI only and is not an officially 
supported workaround, the official workaround is to download the updates 
from the website and apply them manually (the 5.1.2.4 update should be 
available on the website next week for manual download.)
