Kelly, Don't try and fire up WAS test environment on that little boy, it will be painfully slow! cheers Colin.W http://j2ee.mine.nu/javafeed Extension 5800 Direct dial 0870 429 5800 -----Original Message----- From: Kelly Cookson [mailto:KCookson@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 10 January 2005 14:00 To: Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Subject: [WDSCI-L] The RAM Limbo How low can you go? My new PC mistakenly arrived with only 256MB RAM. It's running on a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz CPU, and the RAM itself runs at 2.79GHz, so it's not the same as 256MB RAM on an older PC. But I've been pleasantly suprised by the performance of WDSCi 5.1.2 on 256MB RAM. It hasn't locked up or crashed yet, and response times are really pretty good as long as I don't have other programs fighting for the CPU. This is a dramatic change from the time I tried to run WDSCi 5.0 on 256MB RAM on an older PC. Of course, I wouldn't recommend WDSCi at 256MB RAM. I'm getting 1G RAM very soon.
